Bayeux has preserved the old historic centre with its medieval structure. Its exceptional architectural heritage emerged unscathed from the Allied bombing raids of 1944. Solemnly consecrated on 14 July 1077, in the presence of William, Duke of Normandy and King of England, the cathedral later underwent all kinds of extensions and embellishments from the 13th to the 15th century. |

Dating back almost a millennium, this vast wool embroidery spans the centuries, illustrating the Conquest of England by William, Duke of Normandy. A comic strip as such, it will transport you back to mediaeval times in the midst of Vikings boats and Norman knights.
